BROCKTON, Mass. – Brockton Public Schools secured $50,000 in Innovation Career Pathways grant funding from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, which will be utilized to expand college and career opportunities for Brockton High School students in BHS' Innovation Career Pathways program.
The funds will support three areas, with every dollar going directly to student opportunity:
- College credit in high school. About 75 students will take three business courses through Lasell University and graduate with 9 transferable college credits, at no cost to their families.
- Industry-recognized credentials. Students will earn credentials valued by employers, including OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, Autodesk Certified User, Bioscience Core Skills, and HubSpot Marketing certification.
- Career-connected learning. Students will visit colleges, universities, and industry sites to meet professionals and explore career paths firsthand. These trips also support capstone and internship experiences in partnership with MassHire.
